My year was reasonably uneventful, at least up until the end.
It started off with work and starting school again. Then there was the freezing of the ass while waiting for the World of Warcraft expansion release at the end of January. Then much WoW. Then fast forward to July when I get introspective and then invited to a Bible study group with some new friends and the church pastor. Then August with Blizzcon, followed by a renewal of faith. Then I started attending services regularly. Then September when I take another class. October when I bought a gun and took to going to the range for additional recreation. December when I saw Switchfoot, become a church member, and went the day after Christmas to Mexico on a mission trip. A fairly formative year, with some old friends fading out, some new ones coming into the light and more substance to my life.
As to the Mexico trip: we left the day after Christmas and returned the evening of the 30th. The purpose of the trip was to build a pair of 16'x20' houses for two families in Tijuana. So take 25 people, many of whom have no real construction experience, and throw a bunch of building materials and some team leads at 'em. We got both houses done in three days. First day was framing, siding and getting the ridge beam of the roof up. Second day was finishing the siding, more painting, some drywall hanging, window and door installation and doing the entire roof. Last day was finishing the drywall, mudding the rooms, finishing paint work, trim installation and electrical. We also hit Costco and stocked up the families with a fair amount of food.
Much of the above may be new to some of you reading, as well as for those wondering where I disappeared to. Sometimes you just need to take time away from everything to figure out your life, set a new course and settle into it. I'm in a much happier place in my life now.

So, I get into my car after work, turn on the radio, and I'm not greeted by Green Day, The Postal Service, or any of the usual bands I expect to hear. Instead I'm greeted by some guy with slurred Spanish announcing "La Romatica, Ciento cuatro punto nueve" Uhm, where'd Channel go? Did ClearChannel Communications figure they need two Spanish language stations in the same market? Or are they just testing the waters? All I know, is me no happy camper.

Haven't put one of these up in a while, so here goes. You taste like a milkshake. Your frozen malts send a delicious thrill across the tongue. Your sweetness and innocence are bared for the world to suck up with a straw... and you love it, baby. How do you taste? brought to you by QuizillaAlas, it brings noone to the yard. :(

Mediator You scored 22% physical, 55% magic, 27% versatile, and 61% good! | Your talents lie not in strength or magic, but your ability to get your way through talking to people (and sometimes other things.) You prefer to avoid fights and can often work your way out of them. As the name implies, you are also good at regulating disputes between other people, preferring peaceful resolutions to combat. But in a tight spot, you can also destroy enemy morale. You're handy to have around, but unfortunately there are times when talk will simply fail. | | My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 1% on physical | | You scored higher than 1% on mystical | | You scored higher than 1% on versatile | | You scored higher than 50% on good |
